On October 11th, I had the pleasure of filming Sean and Ashley’s marriage. The ceremony was in a little chapel in Riverside, California. The ceremony was officiated by Sean’s father, Peter.
We headed out to Ashley’s parents house where they set up a beautiful backyard perfectly for the reception. It looked incredible with all the lights strung around a large backyard filled with greenery and trees. The title for their film came from Ashley’s twin sister’s toast wishing them
“love, laugher, and to happily Tiner ever after.”
The film was particularly difficult from a filmmaking perspective. It was shot with one shooter. You have to really plan the shots by thinking like an editor and try to imagine the final picture. If you stay too long in one spot, you could ruin your chances of cutting to another angle but if you try to cut to another angle, you’re also risking missing an important shot.
Piecing it together in post production was probably the most challenging to form a story. Filming the first look and them getting ready was not possible due to venue restriction. Since we aim for a story telling film, it took some creativity to get the full story rather than just a documentary.
